Mark your calendars for the weekend of Feb 14 – ShiverFest 2014!


DEVILS LAKE, ND. –  It’s time again to celebrate our annual winter event – ShiverFest! The dates this year will be February 14-16, 2014. Friday kicks off with the Mikal Wakefield Memorial Hockey Tournament at our two arenas, which will continue all weekend.

Saturday, Ackerman Acres will offer high flying, Olympic sized kites, starting at 11:00 am. Out on the lake by Woodland Resort, you can find sleigh rides, a golf course out on the ice, and more. Starting at 1:00 pm is the annual Youth Ice Fishing Tournament. Again this year, there will be trophies for the largest fish, a drawing to win an ice fishing starter kit, Devils Lake Chamber Bucks prize awards for the top 8 finishers in the Northern, Walleye and Perch categories. The entry fee is $10 and you can purchase tickets at the fire station, the Devils Lake Chamber of Commerce or on the ice the day of the tournament. The first 100 youth signed up for the tournament will receive an ice fishing rod, tackle and a tackle box, and a t-shirt donated by Creative Impressions. Concessions will also be available on the ice (served by the Ice Fishing Tournament) on Saturday from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm.

Starting at noon on Saturday you can take in the snowmobile oval races, also held out of Woodland Resort. These races continue into Sunday.

An adult and high school pond hockey tournament will round out the weekend at Woodland Resort. Later in the evening, at 8:00 pm, a Fireworks display will start at Proz Lakeside at the Cove (at Woodland Resort) will feature the band “8th Hour” to rock the night away.

Also going on around town is a Gun show at the Memorial Building and a Winter Wonderland Vendor Show at the Peterson Building (Ramsey County Building) from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm on Saturday.
