June is Here!

Summer fishing is in full swing now on Devils Lake, there have been a lot of good reports the last few weeks of people catching walleyes. The bite is still fairly shallow, which means think slip bobbers. Try using a slip bobber with a small plain hook with a leech s or small jig head tipped with a leech. The pitchin’ bite has still be effective too so don’t be afraid to tie up a jig with plastic or a crankbait to cast to the shallows while bobber fishing. With the different weather patterns that have rolled through this last week some guys have started pulling spinners with some pretty good luck. Right now we are moving into that unique time on Devils Lake where you can fish for walleyes with a variety techniques.

For those of you looking to fish from shore, the evening bite from shore has been great. A lot of guys have had good luck throwing Lindy Rig setups out tipped with leeches from shore. The shore bite seems to be best those last few hours before dark along the rip-rap where the walleyes are coming into the shallower water to feed.
Some areas to key in on right now are the North End of 6 Mile, Pelican Lake, Howard’s Bay and any other shallow areas of the lake. Good luck to everyone venturing out on the lake this weekend, remember to share your photos of your time on the water with us on our Visit Devils Lake, North Dakota Facebook Page.
