June 26th!

The weather has been unstable this past week, but the fishing has not. Having to endure some high winds and fierce waves, our guides from Mitchell’s Guide Service have continued to battle the weather to catch some nice bags of walleye and northern. Our guides have continued their success by mainly fishing the windswept shorelines.

The number one presentation has continued to be bottom bouncers with spinners. A few ways to run your spinners are with night crawlers, leeches, and also plastics. Berkley Gulp! and Northland Impulse have many options available such as minnow grubs. Chartreuse and white have continued to work great on Devils Lake. Spinner colors that have been producing fish include but not limited to gold and orange. Our guides have been running their spinners between 1.3 and 1.6 mph staying in depths of 6 to 12 feet.

Our guides have also continued to pull crankbaits with great success. Both pitching into the shallows as well as trolling has been producing some nice fish. Like the last fishing report, our guides have been running their crankbait in 8 to 14 feet of water at speeds between 1.8 and 2.2 mph. Lures of choice have continued to be #5 or #7 Rapala Shad Raps and #4 and #5 Salmo Hornets. Colors that have been working are similar to last week which were Perch, Crawdad, Gold and Firetiger.

Areas to target on Devils Lake include any of the larger shallow bays along the windswept shorelines. Good locations include the northwest end of Six Mile Bay and Mauvas Coulee bridge areas, New Mill Bay, and Hog Bay. Strommes has also been doing well in East Bay, along with East Devils Lake has been producing some nice fish.

We have all of the tackle mentioned above along with some of the hottest colors that have been working well here at the Woodland Resort Baitshop.
