Fishing this past week has been nothing short of spectacular!

The fishing this past week for Mitchell’s Guide Service has been nothing short of spectacular!  The quality of walleyes and northern pike is absolutely incredible and the numbers of fish that we have been catching in a days time is pretty impressive as well.  For the most part, we have been doing very well both casting crank baits, mimic minnows, and jigs with trigger X and slip bobbering with leeches.  The majority of our fish are coming shallow in seven feet or less.  With the cooler than normal spring the time to be here is NOW!  Our water temperatures are mostly in the sixty degree range and the shallow waters some days are up to sixty three or sixty four degrees.  On the cooler mornings the fishing really improves in the afternoons.

It is nice to see so many customers from all over the country that come and fish with us leaving with their possession limits and smiles on their faces.   This is partly what makes guiding fishing such a rewarding career.  All of the flooding that we have experienced and the road construction that we have to deal with is soon forgotten once that last fish that limits you out hits that live well.

Things are very busy these days and it is challenging to find room for more groups at times but the summer has just begun.  July the fishing will be just as good and so will August and September.  Our methods will change as the fish head for deeper water but the quality will still be there and the numbers of fish caught will probably even get better.

Have a great week of fishing!
