The forecast for the upcoming week looks awesome

Extremely cold temps the past couple days have made fishing miserable, but have really helped with ice conditions. The forecast for the upcoming week looks awesome though. Most anglers are now finding from 14”-18” of ice and are driving vehicles. While finally thick enough to drive on, anglers still need to stay away from moving water areas such as bridges and coulees.

As for fishing, most anglers are reporting excellent walleye fishing, good pike fishing, but perch have been tough to find. Walleye fishermen are doing well on sunken rocky structure. The better spots have been the sunken roads and humps in the Flats, Doc Hagens, the Ft. Totten/Cactus Point area, Rocky/Military Point, the north end of Creel Bay, the Casino area, Mission Bay, East Bay near the Camp entrance, Stromme Addition, and the sunken road in Black Tiger. Buckshots, nils, raps, and kastmasters tipped with minnow heads have been working well as have sonars and chubby darters. The best fishing has been in the early morning and evening hours. The exception would be Lake Irvin were anglers are also reporting some fish throughout the day. Pike fishing’s been good in Pelican Lake, the north end of Six Mile Bay, Wolfords Bay, and East Devils Lake. Smelt or herring with tip-ups is your best bet. With perch numbers way down, perch have been tough to find. A few anglers are finding a few in the north end of Creel Bay, the mouth of Creel, the Towers area, the Casino, and in Black Tiger, but no real numbers. Good Luck & Good Fishing!!!
