Still catching walleyes and northerns in shallow water…
We were blessed with another week of fantastic fishing! We are still catching both walleyes and northerns in shallow water. Most effective methods are still slip bobbering along tree lines and weed lines and casting crank baits and plastics. The quality of the fish is outstanding! Most of the walleyes have been in the 17 to 22 inch range and the northerns have been ranging from the little dinkers we throw back to the 5 and 6 pounders that are the perfect eating size. White bass fishing has been very good as well. Add it all up and it is amazing the number of fish that enter your boat by the end of the day.
The spring of 2011 so far has shaped up to be one of our best shallow water bites Mitchell’s Guide Service has ever experienced. We have had some awesome spring fishing over the years but nothing quite compares to the consistency that we have been enjoying despite some of the volital weather patterns we have been faced with. If you have never been to Devils Lake before or if you are reading this report thinking I should be there right now…The good news is this tremendous fishing is no where near coming to an end. The good fishing of June will continue as long as the weather is decent, July will be tremendous, Awesome August will arrive and September and even October will all be prime times to come and experience open water fishing Devils Lake style. The only thing that will change is the methods we use to catch these fish. The Mitchell’s Guide Service Team of Guides prides itself on team work. Every guide on our staff is committed to making sure everyone has a successful day on the water. This is the biggest compliment that we hear all the time is the amount of team work that is involved and executed by our staff.
Have a great week of Fishing and we hope to see you on the water!
