The Walleye Are Turning On!

Posted: May 27, 2015

This last weekend has been a turning point in walleye fishing. The water temps have warmed along up with the fishing; temperatures are reaching around 63-65 degrees. Quite a few reports have been coming in about walleyes being caught in various ways. Pitching jigs and plastics in to the weed lines in about 6-8 feet of water have been producing walleyes. Pitching cranks into these same weed lines has also been effective.

Bobber fishing is starting to take off, try finding the weed lines and pulling up short in about 8-10 feet of water and then cast your bobber towards the shallower weeds. Leeches with a plain hook or a small jig head underneath the bobber has been working well. A key to remember when fishing shallow this time of year is that the water is still very clear, try not to come cruising up to a spot really fast as it may spook the fish that are holding there. Instead try to sneak your way into an area slowly.

Good luck to everyone and enjoy this nice weather we have!

Things Are Starting to Heat Up!

Posted: May 24, 2015

Things are starting to heat up… The water temps and the FISHING!!!!!!! After a cold front and 3+inches of rain and water temps in the mid 40’s, things have turned in the right direction. Yesterday was a great day and the water temps were in the upper 50’s and the fish were biting!! We had a great pike day…catching over 50 and 3 walleyes!!! Happy clients. We have been pitching cranks in the shallows, slip bobbering in less than 10 fow has been putting a few fish in the boat too.

Phones are ringing and we are filling fast!!! The sooner your plans to take a guided trip…the better it is to secure your dates. I purchased a brand new 1875 Lund Impact this year from Blakes Marine in Devils Lake. The boat is powered by a 150 Mercury 4 stroke and it has a full windshield too!!!! I will be posting the daily pictures of Facebook and then weekly transfering them here with a report so, if you are not a facebook friend, please do so to get the day by day lo-down.

Till next Time.. Tight Lines John
